The New England Anomaly is dedicated to New England's uniqueness.  This site may be of interest to professional and amateur historians, public historians, folklorists, sociologists, students, tourists, and appreciators of the fun and unusual.

Truth is stranger than fiction. That's what everybody says. Especially here in the states that make up what Americans refer to as New England: Connecticut, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Vermont, New Hampshire, and Maine.  It is one of the oldest settled areas in the United States and has a reputation for being the most...well, "unusual."  The New England landscape and its people hold sway over the imagination; its strange history fascinates everyone.  New England history is chock full of the strange and wonderful, both good and bad, from the Salem Witch Trials to the folklore of the "Yankee Nutmegger."

If you are curious about the regional folklore, legends, and history that shapes people and their society, then this is the site for you.  There are more stories out there to uncover…and it is time to share them with the rest of the world.
